I spent Canadian Thanksgiving holiday in October 2005 wandering around downtown Montreal (I was a day early for a freelance writing job), poking the lens of my trusty Olympus 765UZ in directions perhaps less explored by many visitors. The Montreal fall weather was dull, with occasional drizzle, which drained the colour and contrast from the city, but I still managed to find fascinating corners of the Old Town, side streets, alleys, old buildings, the ghost side walls of which are sometimes preserved in the walls of still-standing, more recently-constructed neighbours, remains of tram tracks, faded advertisements painted on cliff-like brick walls, old railways, distorted doorways scarred by time and the lives that have stepped through them. It was obviously only a glimpse of a city, but fun nevertheless...
