A bicycle ride up the Tissington Trail to the High peak Trail

We'd arrived at Hartington Youth Hostel in the late afternoon, so we warmed up by heading up the Tissington Trail to the northern end of the High Peak Trail and back. The joy of these trails is that, being former railway trackbeds, they are very gently graded. The High Peak trail is less popular at its northern extremity, and the path becomes pretty rough for cycling beyond Parsley Hay. Eventually it ends against a still-active quarry ay Dowlow, any further progress limited to footpaths. A very pleasant couple of hours.
