faded paint

Once, walls were used as posters. Now nothing is considered that permanent. So the words and pictures fade and eventually vanish or are covered. The walls are demolished. Or graffiti perpetrators do their ugly work.

What remains are a few fast-disappearing examples of fine lettering, design and imagery.

Painted bricks...they are sometimes called painted advertisements or ghost signs, This is simply a record that might be of interest to others who look up from the pavement! Eventually all painted posters and notices will vanish, as, unlike enamelled signs and paper posters, they are not collectable. So here are a few before they vanish.
