I don't want to go!

Day 37, May 8, 1997

Arroyo Grande to Kirk Creek State Park, CA

180 km in three days

We couldn't leave Arroyo Grande until some photos were ready after 11 am, so I went in to the factory with Tanya. We spent the morning chatting, sharing missing information from the last decade about ourselves and our families. I also assisted by assembling and packaging some jewelry, while watching Tanya create. Ralph and Erica appeared, and we went for Chinese buffet once more.

We dropped Tanya off at the factory and began our good-byes. I didn't want to go! We began talking about connecting again in the fall, and I finally made a quick exit when Tanya was distracted by business.

We drove north along Highway 1, which Tanya had told me was beautiful, but slow going. Single lane each way, winding and scenic, we were happy to coast along at 50 mph or less. We decided we'd gone far enough about 5:30. The air was chilly and damp. We had many activities to occupy us though: a walk along the beach, our journals to catch up in, a mole digging holes in our site.
