Nursemaid and cook

Day 40, May 11, 1997

Stanford

160 km in three days

Ralph had been battling a cold bug for the last few days, and on this morning it was clear he was ill. Erica went off on a several hour bike ride, and I settled in to take care of Ralph and prepare the evening's meal. I spent my day happily talking to Bruce's room-mates, delivering cold clothes and fluids to Ralph, and writing. When Erica got back from her cycling, we went shopping for cold medicine, Kleenexes and food.

I made two veggie lasagnas for dinner. Bruce and Heidi, after working all day, came "home" for dinner. Bruce's room-mates Amit and Jay also joined us. Offering food was our way of saying "thanks", and it appeared to be well appreciated.
