Winding, narrow roads

Week 7

from San Francisco to Oregon along the coast, into south-central Oregon

1504 km

We said our good-byes and thank yous in San Francisco and headed north along the coast. It was a beautiful drive: we saw rugged coastline battered by the Pacific, pastoral fields and valleys, towering redwoods, blue sky studded with white cloud sitting atop rolling green hills. Some of the roads demanded our full attention (actually, my full attention, since I ended up driving most of these days...) because they were so narrow and winding.

We reached Oregon, where we enjoyed the camping and the landscape. From the coast to Crater Lake and back again, we followed the Rogue and Umpqua rivers, viewing waterfalls, rivers rushing through lava tubes, and rivers colliding head-on. Nature provided multitudes of art.
