Falling in love and cloudy skies

Week 8

Eugene to the Oregon dunes, back to Eugene, and east

573 km

This week brought a new challenge: Erica went off to spend a week bicycling by herself, and Ralph and I headed for the coast to spend a week on our own. This was also the week that we faced our first rain--I was grateful I wasn't on my bike!

During this week I fell in love with the Oregon dunes. Despite the rain, dust and contacts warring in my eyes, and mosquitoes sampling my blood, I tramped camera-laden through the dunes and the seashore almost daily. Each time we waded through the waterlogged deflation plain to the beach, we were rewarded by being the only humans for miles.

Day 50: A very expensive loaf of bread
Day 51: Forgotten and not missed
Day 52: Regret
Day 53: Beauty and the beast
Day 54: Just a few miles away....
Day 55: More rain
Day 56: Exploring the coast
