Moving west again

Week 23

Terra Nova National Park to Halifax, NS via St. John's and the Cabot Trail

1465 km

This week we were tossed at sea, literally. Besides spending 17 hours on a ferry, we were alternately excited and disappointed, pleased and frustrated. St. John's was a nice little city that we explored gently, but don't bother seeking tourist information there. We enjoyed a second visit with Gillian, but I don't know when I will see her again. We arrived in Nova Scotia to find the Cabot Trail different than we expected. In return for a hard day's work in Halifax we were treated to good company and a warm bed.

Also, we are leaving the east too soon to enjoy the display of fall colors. Thunder got sick and, fortunately, was patched. And we have realized that we cannot continue our trip as we originally planned. We find ourselves heading west again--in the late afternoons we find ourselves driving into the sun's glare.
