It's Ralph's 60th birthday on 8th August 2008. Unbelievable but sadly true...the yawning gap between his mental and physical ages grows ever wider, and he has yet to discover the secret of eternal youth.
You've received your invite (if you haven't, let him know) and here are some extra details:
No gifts (your presence is all that will be required)! Turn up from 6:30pm. There will be a performance of light classical music by Aeolus, Ralph's wind ensemble, from about 7:00pm. After the third or fourth encore and the tumultuous applause finally dies away, buffet refreshments will be available from 7.30ish.
From about 8:30/9pm until we stagger out at midnight, there will be ceilidh dancing with the Celebration Band.
Free drinks until the tab runs out, then pay bar. Invitees are welcome to bring partners/friends/family.
For friends and family living outside of Nottingham, we'll be around all weekend and will make arrangements for meeting up before and after the party. Unfortunately, our house will be full, so here are a couple of hotels near the venue that you may wish to consider:
