Snailbeach Lead Mine

Snailbeach Lead Mine is a wonderful survival that has quietly mouldered amongst brambles and nettles for many years since it was abandoned, before being rescued and preserved in the 1990s.

Located between Shrewsbury and Bishops Castle, in rural Shropshire, the mine lies up narrow, twisty lanes to the east of the A488. Somehow, some of the trackwork of the narrow-guage railway that served the shafts was forgotten, and today rusts away surrounded by wild flowers.
